Psalm 68
5
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is
God in his holy habitation.
6
God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out
the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
7
O God, when you went out before your people, when
you marched through the wilderness, Selah
8
The earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain, before
God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
9
Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad; you
restored your inheritance as it languished;
10
Your flock found a dwelling in it; in your
goodness, O God, you provided for the needy.
Father
to the Fatherless…Protector of Widows…Settles the Solitary in a home…Leads
Prisoners to prosperity…Goes out before His people… Provides for the Needy
David
gives some of the roles of God the Father in this Psalm. Which of these can you
relate to? Maybe you have others to add to the list? I have personally seen God
active in all these ways in different peoples’ lives. I have also seen Him work
as the Restorer of marriages… Reconciler of friendships… Giver of grace…
Comfort to the lonely or the grieving… The list could go on and on.
God
loves us so much that He desires to be these things in our lives. He has gone
before us and knows the trials we will encounter. But so often, we choose to
turn to other comforts, other solutions, to trust in anything else but God. We
turn to friends, to relationships, to money, to ourselves, to alcohol, drugs,
or other vices. We end up depressed and emptier than we when we began.
Who
is God in your life right now? Or Who does He want to be in your life? Put your
trust in Him, not just for salvation, but also for your situation.
Psalm
20:7- Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of
the Lord our God.
Psalm
40:4- Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the
proud, to those who go astray after a lie.
