2 Corinthians 5
14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this:
that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for
themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
So
may of us compartmentalize our lives and we act differently based on which ‘compartment’
we are in. Our Christian faith only shows if we are in a ‘God-friendly’ section
of life. But it shouldn’t be this way. Our faith in Christ should be the
defining factor of who we are. It should shape everything we do.
As
verse 14 says, Does the love of Christ control you? Like really- does it guide
EVERYthing you do? What would that life look like? Verse 15 says that it means
you no longer live for yourself, but for Christ.
While
you’d still make mistakes, living in sin would not be an option. You’d be on
the look out for opportunities to serve God and to serve others. You would not
be wasting time away, nor would you do anything halfway. Your friends and
family knowing Christ would become an urgent matter. Everything in your life
would point to Christ, and there would be no doubt to anyone around you that
you are different because you love God.
Does
this describe your life? I can certainly see room for improvement in my life.
Allow the love of Christ to control you and all you do. Let it define who you
are.
