II Corinthians 1:3-4

2 Corinthians 1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Have you ever experienced comfort from God? Multiple times in Scripture it says that He comforts us. He comforts the mourning (Matt. 5:4); He comforts His people and has compassion on them (Isa. 49:13), and He goes before and with us (Deut. 31:8). Here, in 2nd Corinthians, it says He is the God of all comfort. If you are afflicted, weary, grieving, hurting, depressed, or in need, ask God for His comfort.

However, this passage doesn’t stop there. This promise also comes with an action required for the one who was comforted. It says that God comforts us in our affliction so that we can comfort others who are suffering; using the comfort God comforted us with.

In other words, we don’t experience God’s hand in our lives to keep it to ourselves. The sufferings and hardships you have dealt with and were delivered from are powerful testimonies of God’s work in your life. Get out and share them!! If you see someone hurting, don’t believe the lie that there is nothing you can do. If you have experienced God’s comfort, you can help comfort them. Pray with them. Share your experience. Give them the hope that is only found in Christ.
