Ephesians 2:4-6; 10

Ephesians 2

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

God’s work of redemption in our lives is incredible. This chapter begins ‘you were dead in trespasses and sins.’ We were without hope. But God, because of his great love and mercy made us alive through Christ. He seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus—our citizenship is in Heaven, not to this world. Why then do we still live like this Earth is all there is?

Verse 10 says that we are God’s workmanship, his creation. We were made for good works which God prepared beforehand. Not only do you have a purpose, but there are things God has predestined for you to do. Good things that honor and glorify Him. Are you walking in His calling according to His purpose? When we live for this world, walking in our pleasures, I am convinced we are missing these things. God wants us walking in the good works He has for us. His purpose for our lives is there, just waiting for us to obey and fulfill our calling.
