II Timothy 3:16-17

II Timothy 3

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Many of us know that the Bible is the inerrant, holy word of God. As verse 16 says, it is breathed out by God. It is full of His Words. Yet we often take only parts of it to heart. We pick and choose what to obey and neglect other passages that are just too hard to incorporate into today’s culture and society. Maybe they are passages that would just require too much change in your life.

But Scripture is important- all of it. It teaches us, reveals our shortcomings, corrects us, and teaches us how to be righteous. It truly is the instruction manual for our life, but following it is not always easy. It can be difficult to allow Scripture to convict and chastise us. Then when it does reveal our faults, it can be even harder to fix them.

God gave us the Bible so that we may be complete, according to verse 17, and equipped for every good work. Many times we struggle in our Christian walks and we wrestle with what we should do about a situation. Maybe we are just in a rut and are having difficulty feeling God’s hand in our lives. Turn to Scripture. God reveals answers and equips us with the ability to follow through. He encourages and uplifts us through His word as well.

I challenge you to really spend some time meditating in Scripture so you can be the man in Psalm one, firmly rooted and ready for every season.
