Psalm 124

2 

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,

3 

then they would have swallowed us up alive,
 when their anger was kindled against us;

4 

then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

5 

then over us would have gone
the raging waters.

This Psalm about the Israelites applies to us as well. If the Lord was not on our side… if He was not watching over us… we would have been overcome by so many things. Truly God has been for us, even when we didn’t ask for or realize it.

Maybe you don’t know God. Maybe you don’t believe there is a God. Maybe you believe in God, but don’t know how He has worked in your life. There have still been times when God was on your side. The fact that you even exist and are breathing is a miracle from God. The time you narrowly escaped a car accident… when you were delivered from a serious illness… It is God who ordained the number of days we are on this Earth (Psalm 139).

I firmly believe that God has been on your side in ways you can’t even imagine. I can look back in my life and consider times where if things were just a little different… if I would have pursued one path instead of the other… if God was not on my side- my life would have been absolutely wrecked.

Sometimes we try and take credit for these things. We attribute our wisdom, intellect, or even our great mentors to these choices, but in reality, God in His amazing sovereignty had His hand on your life personally to ensure what is best for you.

Psalm 139:16- Your eyes saw my unformed substance; 
in your book were written, every one of them, 
the days that were formed for me,
 when as yet there was none of them.
