Psalm 77
11
I shall remember the deeds of the Lord;
Surely I
will remember Your wonders of old.
12
I will meditate on all Your work
And muse on Your
deeds.
13
Your way, O God, is holy;
What god is great like
our God?
14
You are the God who works wonders;
You have made
known Your strength among the peoples.
15
You have by Your power redeemed Your people,
The
sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
At the start of the chapter, you can almost feel
Asaph’s struggle through his words. He is weary, faint, disturbed, worried,
grieving, depressed, and his soul refuses to be comforted.
During the low point Asaph is in, he decides to
turn to God in his turmoil. He resolves to remember the work of the Lord in
verses 11-15. Rather than dwelling on his situation, he chooses to meditate on
the wonder of God’s power and the mighty work God has done. He recognizes that
the redemption for this life is only through God.
We will definitely all face trials. Trouble and
hard times will come. While we may face sadness, grief, frustration,
depression, etc., we have a choice to either dwell on those emotions, or
meditate on the strength and work of the Lord. While you are waiting for God to
work in your situation, remember all the times He has worked previously.
Remember that His way is holy. After all, as verse 13 says, what god is great
like our God?
Lamentations 3:19-23- Remember my affliction and my
wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is
bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The
steadfast love of the Lord never ceases and his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
